I’m very excited to annouce the official details for the Young Photographers Alliance 2012 Exhibition that I, along with a selection of students from SPAO have been working towards since graduating from the Portoflio Program. Please RSVP to the Facebook Event, and invite your friends!

The Young Photographers Alliance was created to inspire and empower young, gifted photographers. Led by industry professionals, YPA provides aspiring image-makers with access to the kind of practical industry knowledge, experience, resources, and contacts they need to build sustainable careers as photography professionals. YPA is unique in its focus on community and the fostering of direct, meaningful connections between emerging and established photographers. Our vision is to create powerful synergies between the two groups, recognizing that collaboration benefits both, and ultimately energizes and advances the profession as a whole. - http://www.youngphotographersalliance.org/mission.php

We worked closely with Michael Tardioli, our mentor. Looking at the work he had produced in the year as well as new works, we selected images that fit with the theme of Hometown. This being the only theme, it was only fitting that I submitted photos of my homies, behind the scenes of us skateboarding in Ottawa and abroad. For me skateboarding is something that started for me in my hometown of Ottawa, and in the last year has sent me to a handful of locations in the United States and Canada. I feel most at home with these guys, camera in hand and skateboard within reach.
